Store-wide Remediation and Renovation

Major International Retailer (anonymity requested)
Atlanta, GA – 1996-1999 – $4,200,000

Scope of Work:
Neumeyer Environmental was contracted to perform asbestos abatement in a 160,000 square foot operating department store and complete decontamination of the store’s air handling system. The sensitive nature of the work and the requirement that it be executed adjacent to an active retail environment made safety and maintaining normal appearances paramount.

Neumeyer Environmental removed asbestos fireproofing and mechanical systems insulation and installed replacement materials. We also decontaminated the area above the ceilings and all of the building’s air handling system ductwork.

This project required 25,000 man-hours. There was no lost time or OSHA-recordable incident, and no accident or other incident. The work was performed off-hours to support ongoing operation of the store.

Madame Curie’s Laboratory – Flannery Building

Enercon Services, Inc.
Oakland, PA – 2001-2002 – $825,000

Scope of Work:
Nobel laureate Marie Curie, and others, worked with radiological materials in a five-story building in Oakland that was built around 1900. As a result, the building contained radiological contaminants. The residual radiological contamination within the building was identified along with asbestos containing building materials over time and targeted for remediation.

Neumeyer Environmentals’ scope of work included removal of asbestos materials that had been contaminated by radium. The asbestos materials included flooring, spray-applied fireproofing, and pipe insulation. We installed new thermal insulation systems, and decontaminated building components and mechanical systems.

This historic facility remains in use as office space today.
