Mosites Construction Company
Pittsburgh, PA – 1997 – $350,000
Scope of Work:
The Allegheny County Port Authority Transit developed a busway and bridge to access the newly constructed Pittsburgh International Airport. An abandoned dump site was located within the alignment. Soil analysis indicated lead contaminated soils within the excavation limits.
Neumeyer Environmental removed, managed and disposed 18,000 tons of contaminated soil to an off-site regulated facility.
After completion of excavation to the foundation grade, Neumeyer Environmental overlaid the subgrade with barrier material to allow construction of the roadway to proceed with the contractor’s specialized crews. The potential for worker exposure to contaminants of concern was eliminated by this approach. The project was completed on-time and within budget.
