Scope of Work:
Approximately 2,500 tons of obsolete tools and equipment used in service and repair of commercial nuclear power generation facilities required disposal.
Neumeyer Environmental segregated, sized, and packaged materials for off-site treatment and processing. We dismantled contaminated components and equipment, and segregated waste materials (metals, wood, plastics, etc.). Neumeyer Environmental shredded the materials to reduce shipping and disposal costs.
Valuable warehouse space was cleared of obsolete equipment. Removal of contaminated items from the warehouse reduced background radiation within the building.
Atlantic Research Corporation

Scope of Work:
Neumeyer Environmental was contracted to perform decontamination of a radiological contaminated facility with 54 actuator rod sleeves cast into the walls of a containment scheduled for removal.
Neumeyer Environmental was required to core-drill holes through high-strength concrete to remove the sleeves. Neumeyer Environmental developed a process to collect, filter, and recycle drilling lubricant to reduce the volume required to perform the work. Neumeyer Environmental was able to minimize the amount required to less than five gallons by employing this method. The lubrication equipment was solidified on site. The project involved multiple mixed waste streams, such as radiological contamination, asbestos, mercury, lead, and guano debris.
The project was completed on-time and within budget.
Mekis Construction Company

Scope of Work:
In preparation of demolition of a 1930’s bridge, PENNDOT encountered lead in the soil beneath the span. Lead had reached the soil from the paint as it weathered through the years and from past sandblasting operations to prepare the bridge for repainting. Removal of the contaminated soil was required for the project to continue.
High concentrations of lead were determined through analystical testing in the top 12 inches of soil. The soil was a mix of loose granulated slag and sandy loam. The hillside beneath the bridge was steep with a 1-to-1 slope (45 degrees) and about 150 feet long.
The long, steep slope made use of conventional excavating equipment impractical and dangerous. Instead, Neumeyer Environmental utilized a HEPA filtered high-volume vacuum pump. Workmen traversed the slope, tethered to supporting ropes with full body harnesses, and pumped the contaminated soil using five-inch diameter vacuum hoses. The vacuum transferred the soil up the slope to a bagging station. Tthe contaminated soil was disposed at regulated facility.
Neumeyer Environmental removed 817 tons of contaminated soil from the slope in two weeks.

Neumeyer Environmental constructed access to the site, installed erosion and sediment controls including a sediment pond to collect the well cleaning decant. Scope of Work:
Neumeyer Environmental conducted an abandoned oil and gas well closure in accordance with PADEP requirements to prevent migration of contaminants into the adjacent soils, atmosphere and waterways. Neumeyer Environmental constructed access to the site, installed erosion and sediment controls including a sediment pond to collect the well cleaning decant. We remove the piping and casing during grout placement to ensure an adequate seal was establishes. NES place the standpipe and restored the site to pre-existing conditions.
Approximately one year after closure, the well began leaking from an unidentified production zone based on well records. Neumeyer Environmental remobilized and performed investigations and resealing of the well.
